How much does basement waterproofing cost in Innisfil?
It is priced from the house, not the phone. Interior or exterior — which one do I need?
Exterior work is the only repair that keeps water out of the wall itself, so it is right when a wall is wet through or the original drain has failed. An interior drainage system collects water at the footing and pumps it out — less disruptive, and often the only option under a deck, an addition or a driveway. Most houses need one, not both. Can you work in winter?
Interior drainage, crack injection and pump work run all year because they happen inside. Exterior excavation waits for open ground, roughly April to late November, and we say so rather than fight the frost.
Why does my basement only leak in spring?
Snow melts faster than frozen ground can absorb it, so the water runs to the lowest point — the backfill beside your foundation — and down to a drain that may have silted up years ago. Extending downspouts and regrading helps; a working weeping tile is the permanent part.
Is a crack in my poured wall structural?
Usually not. Vertical and slightly diagonal hairline cracks are shrinkage and are injected. A crack wider than about 6 mm, stepped, or wider at the top than the bottom is movement, and it goes to an engineer before anyone injects it.
What is the white powder on my basement wall?
Efflorescence: minerals left behind when water moves through concrete or block and evaporates on the inside face. It is harmless in itself and a reliable sign that the wall is taking water from outside. Across a whole wall, it is the case for exterior work.
Do I need a battery backup for the sump pump?
If the pump matters, yes. The storm that fills the pit is the storm that takes the power out. A battery backup runs for hours; a water-powered backup runs on municipal pressure but does not work on a well.
Will the work wreck my yard?
Exterior work means a trench along the wall for several days. Sod, plants and interlock in that band come out and go back, and each item is listed in the scope. Mature trees within about 2 m of the wall are the one thing we warn may not survive. Interior work leaves the yard untouched.
